What to Expect

Replacing your roof isn't something you do every day. Here's a heads-up on what to expect so there are no surprises. Not all of these will happen, but they're possibilities based on past projects.

  • Material Delivery — Roofing materials will be delivered to your home the day before work begins. These will be placed on one side of your driveway to allow for easy access. Please ensure this area is clear and cars are moved out of the driveway for delivery. If you have a car in the garage you want to drive, it's a good idea to pull those out. The materials and trailer may block the garage.
  • Crew Arrival — Our roofing crew will arrive between 7:30 AM and 8:00 AM on the scheduled start date. We kindly ask that all vehicles be moved from the driveway before their arrival to allow for equipment and materials.

We do our best to keep your yard and flowerbeds clean, but roofing is an inherently messy job. While we conduct a thorough cleanup, you may still find small pieces of debris such as paper, metal, or shingles for a short period after completion. Imagine throwing a handful of glitter in the air — you can clean up most of it, but a few specks will continue to turn up. That's what replacing your roof is like. Any company claiming to leave your property 100% spotless is not being completely honest or hasn't looked very closely.

  • Patio Furniture, Potted Plants, and Yard Decorations — Please move these items at least 15 feet away from the house or store them under a covered patio. Roofing debris, tools, and materials can fall and cause damage. If you need assistance moving anything, let us know when we start the job.
  • Landscaping — We take every precaution to protect your landscaping, but some plants may get damaged in the process. If you have prized or sentimental plants (such as those imported from family abroad), please inform us in advance so we can take extra care.
  • Shaking & Noise — Roofing materials are heavy, and while we try to be as gentle as possible, you will hear slamming noises on your roof, and your home may shake. Some houses are sturdier than others, so the impact will vary.
  • Drywall & Fixtures — If you have existing drywall cracks, they may expand during the process. "Nail pops" (small bulges where nails push through drywall) can also occur. Additionally, light fixtures, wall art, and anything hanging on the walls may become loose or fall if not properly secured. We recommend checking and tightening screws on all fixtures and temporarily removing valuable or fragile decorations.
  • Satellite Dishes — If your satellite dish is attached to the roof, we will do our best to reinstall it as it was. However, you may need to contact your provider to realign the signal after installation. You will also be unable to use the satellite while we are replacing the roof. If you'd like the dish removed permanently, let us know, and we will cut the cable and dispose of it for you.
  • Skylights — It is wise to place a towel or sheet under any skylight during your roof replacement to catch any debris that may fall into your home.

Before cooking, run your kitchen exhaust fan after the roof installation to ensure no debris falls into your meal.

  • Breaks & Resting Areas — Our crew works hard, especially in the summer heat, and may take breaks in shaded areas of your yard.
  • Music & Noise Levels — Some of our workers enjoy listening to music while they work. If the volume is too loud, please inform your salesperson, site superintendent, or our office, and we will address it.

If your home requires foundation leveling, it should be completed before your roof installation. House leveling can cause structural shifts that may damage a new roof. Any roof damage caused by future foundation movement is not covered under warranty.
